There are definitely plenty of people who would say that using a hosting provider doesn't count, even if you're deploying the software yourself. The one generally accepted exception to this is network protection. You don't want to expose your home ip address to the outside world if you can help it, so a lot of people use tailscale, cloud flare tunnels, or a vps as a proxy. |
