I actually made a post a few years ago about how the UK could look to replace fuel duty as cars move away from ICE. Fuel duty is a huge source of revenue for the UK government. I remember reading that to replace it solely with a rise in income tax it would require taking the base rate income tax from 20% to 24% at least which is huge. |
