Yes, you're likely thinking about the Aspera range of file transfer software which is quite popular within the film industry. It's actually quite elegant; a control connection over SSH plus a custom UDP protocol (FASP) for data. It does work as advertised and has some nice features that are handy in production, but licensing is very expensive ($20K for point-to-point at 1gb/s). |
