| I started reading books later in life, and Elon Musk is my hero. I wanted to become Elon Musk. After watching videos about Elon and many other entrepreneurs, I discovered they were all voracious readers, having consumed thousands of books. They were lucky to have started young. 'I want to become Elon Musk,' I thought. 'But to compete with his knowledge, I'd need to read thousands of books, which would take decades. By then, he'd have read even more!' My initial thought was, 'I can't compete with Elon Musk in terms of knowledge.' It felt like a magnetic force pushing me away the closer I tried to get. But I refused to give up. 'There has to be a solution,' I thought. Using available AI models, I successfully built an application. Read Fast: The Solution The app allows me to upload a book in PDF format. It then condenses the text, extracting the core information I needed to increase my knowledge. This lets me finish a book in a day or two! Isn't that awesome? The Best Part: The app even mimics the book's writing style and tone in the condensed version. So, I never feel like I'm reading a jumbled mess where every sentence crams a whole page's worth of information. (The consistent style and tone make the reading experience much more enjoyable.) I truly fell in love with AI's potential. Why Share This Solution? I've added even more features you might find helpful, like translations in fifteen languages and simplification of complex books. Happy Reading! |
1. Primarily: I don't trust LLMs to output 100% correct information - I will always second-guess whatever I read there 2. The devil is in the details - condensation naturally has to exclude some of the data, and I'm quite sure I don't trust an LLM to figure out what's important; better yet, there might be something not really all that important in there which really aids in knowledge retention (eg a funny story), which is stripped from the output
It sounds like a neat idea if you're willing to ingest invalid, incomplete knowledge in the hope that it will be sufficient. I guess time will tell.
