Hey, just cuz you're not getting any replies here: Might be worth trying locally too? If you're in the Bay, there's gotta be some local tech company/group/reseller willing to donate a few hundred dollars worth of parts in exchange for a thank-you and a photo op.

When I worked for nonprofits and student groups, we would very commonly approach local businesses with donation requests. Keyword local, as in face-to-face, asking politely with a smile, and making sure to thank them in your outreach materials afterward. Most of the time (as in 90%+), businesses were very happy to have the opportunity to help their local community.

Hey, just seeing this now. Thank you for the advice, I will be trying to locate a smaller company nearby to see if I can take some hardware out of their hands.
