It is somewhat disingenuous to say that Taiwan claims those regions. China has made it clear that any abdication of those claims would be seen as a move towards independence and result in invasion. Similar to the Chinese claims that the British never brought democracy to HongKong while China threatened invasion if any such thing had happened. |
