At 19 I lacked the life skills to succeed at topped ranked EECS program. I eventually transferred to tiny school where I developed the skills I needed in a low pressure environment. I'm currently 16 years into a good career.

I wasn't dealing with addictions, but I had my own share of mental health struggles back then. It sounds like you need to seek help from professionals, rather than internet randos.
