He set fire to cardboard that was in dumpster in parking lot. This does not warrant a 5 five jail sentence. Compare, for example, to hitting a cyclist with a car causing spinal injuries and brain damage and then fleeing the scene. He got charged with a misdemeanor and 90 days jail time which he didn't even serve because it was a suspended sentence. What's the difference between these two cases where both seem to have wildly disproportionate sentences given the details of the crime?
