Fast success or long hard growth

I've always been interested in the paradox:

Why some projects from one launch on product hunt already have 1k$+ revenue with zero marketing budget.

Others take months to reach this revenue, invest in paid advertising, and tell people about their product manually. Everything goes slowly and with a creak.

And the products may even be similar or literal competitors.

What is it? How do you explain it?

Is it time and place? The strength and importance of the problem? The combination of segment - positioning - channel?

As a final example - now a side project has taken off that sold a saas starter kit set for $500,000+ . The usual template for saas. I can't explain why this is being bought now, it's a mystery to me. At the same time none of the analogs were making that kind of money (no open numbers). It's not even a fact that you can do it if you do it exactly the same way.

A small remark - I'm talking more about indie projects, of course.
