I wish someone would explain to me why confiscating my clear plastic water bottle from me at the airport is such a security priority.

TLDW: was previously hard to tell the difference between water and explosives.

Taking a gulp or two from the bottle should be enough of a differentiator, IMO.

The queues are long enough already, much faster to just say no.

Yes, quite a lot, food calories can be made explosive. Don't give them ideas.

Are phone batteries explosive? Able to generate a fire that can’t be extinguished with a fire extinguisher?

Do we allow 100ml of phone battery? Does a Macbook contain even more energy?

We allow 100wh of batteries in individual devices
Fires, despite being bad, are less of a hazard than explosives of the same total energy.
I heard that one shall be careful with Li-Ion batteries. /s
