Basically no change. 100ml limit per bottle was always there, and still is.

What's different with these scanners? Can they identify the molecular structure of the liquids or what was the problem previously?

Schiphol has those fancy scanners and they allow to bring bottles with you and did so for years.

yes as has Arlanda for example. They now found a problem with them and now you even there from sept. 1 can not take more then 100ml
