What I actually found most interesting reading back over the book lately was the very 90's take on ethnic balkanization. I don't think that ever really came to pass in the way it was always assumed it was happening at the time, and I think a primary reason for that is the kind of rapidly-changing tech economythat was the backdrop for the story. I'd be really curious to see how a present day retelling if the story would handle this disconnect. |
