Reading through the homepage one part stood out: they burn through quite some laptops. I wonder, perhaps it’s related to their environment? Salpeter is probably damaging the electronics. Consumer laptops were never designed to be out on sea for such extended time. Now… what could they do about this issue? Assuming this is the root cause of the failures. |

The problem is the moist, salty air, circulating through the electronics.
Use a tablet (it's closed, doesn't suck in air for cooling), ideally a waterproof one. There are also "sealed", splash-proof keyboards, but even if using a regular keyboard, replacing that from time to time is far cheaper than replacing a whole laptop.
