If content is put in public for free, then I will consume it for free. No one can make my eyeballs stare at ads, and it is my choice to hide them if I wish, just as it is the choice of a cable user to change the channel during an ad break, or configure a DVR to not record them.

I happily support creators that give me ethical means to do so, like anonymous donations or buying useful products I want.

Consuming ads only seeks to empower a system that makes it harder for creatives to be creative and get fairly paid.

Adtech is societal cancer, and everyone who supports it is no friend of creators.
