You could position where you focus on a concept like “with my current wages I have felt the need to supplement . The way I’m doing my calculation is based on getting to the a place where that is not necessary.

For what it’s worth it doesn’t mean you have to stop the Side stuff it’s just a good negotiating point

Most contracts say you can’t do work on the side in the UK without permission so I wouldn’t highlight this, just because it probably won’t impact negotiations (there’s better things to say) and at worst could cause issues where they ask you to stop. Unlikely, but in general don’t mention this stuff.
It’s a good response! But I should have added more context that the side income is passive/ only requires maximum 15 hours work per year so isn’t a heavy burden.
They don’t need to know that.. and the extra 10k for the new role feels derisory. Given the tax situation you want to push past 125k per year so ask for more than 100k but accept 100?
this is a terrible take. your employer doesn't and shouldn't care about your expenses.

the only important thing, from their perspective, is how much replacing you will cost them, and from your perspective it's symmetric: what can you get elsewhere (by replacing your employer)?
