It has more native speakers than French, German, or Italian. The Japanese culture is not going anywhere. Most of the time, those "globalization is ruining beautiful Japanese culture" arguments sound like a mixture of orientalism and xenophobic dog-whistle, i.e., "Isn't it nice that there's a country where only its one native ethnic group is considered the true members and all else are at best second-class citizens?" |
