It's simpler, but it's not necessarily easier. I don't remember the rules for fall-damage, off-hand - and it's certainly easier to just say, "you take 2 HP of damage" than it is to dig out or start googling around for a rule. I play a lot of D&D as well, and to me, it's a great framework for collaborative storytelling - but that's because I'm familiar with the flow of the game. That's not true for everyone, and for some people, it's more fun to have fewer rules and a more collaborative decision-making process. |

I heard it once on a podcast. Rules esoterica sticks to me like glue. I’ll remember 1000 of those rules before I remember the name of some person in a fantasy world and what exactly they were doing.
