Anecdotal evidence? I used to work with/host lots of small php apps that tied in with MySQL. PHP has dropped in popularity over the years. Add to this hosting for Postgres has become common so you're not tied to cheap hosting for MySQL only. At least I think that the Oracle name being tied to MySQL made it icky for a lot of people that think the big O is a devil straight from hell. This is something that got me looking at Postgres way back when. There's probably a myriad of 'smaller' reasons just like this that enforce the trend. |
