One of the first things I do with a fresh install of an OS is to enable window titles on taskbar icons & disable any grouping feature. Icons-only cause a cognitive hiccup as I try to work out what it means, and extra clicks from grouping is inefficient. Why is the icon dock so popular with designers?

Same! I can’t understand anything with just icons. I want 1 icon with text per open windows.

Maybe because they don’t actually use computers on daily basis to get the job done but just design how they look?
