Thomas Jefferson was nothing if not a massive hypocrite. He waxed eloquent about the nobility of violence done by other men to other men, but when the British showed up at Monticello he fled like a coward. Unsurprising for a man who styled himself a yeoman farmer but had slaves and children do all of his work for him. |
