Where I live, we’ve lost the ability to see most of the stars at night. The mass extinction of many species means that the world which used to be teaming with life is now mostly just teaming with human life. We lost our connection to the natural world. We’ve lost the vast open spaces where you could roam freely although perhaps not always safely. Sure, it’s a trade off, but it’s ridiculous to pretend we haven’t lost anything. We pay for our high standard of living with anxiety and neuroses. |
