It seems the mayor of Barcelona is banning short-term rentals to appease the locals. From the looks of it, the discomfort started when locals couldn't afford to live in their city. Portugal also banned new Airbnbs. The same goes for other cities around the globe. Sooner or later, this trend will ramp up globally since the premise was to rent a spare room, not the whole thing. Tourism will survive since Barcelona has been a hot destination long before short-term rentals. |
