Persuading 'digital nomads' with established businesses isn't the same as encouraging and promoting home grown Portuguese businesses. Also non-English speaking countries that set up an internet-based business are at an immediate disadvantage to the US and UK, unless their business is English-first. The US immediately has a market of 300m. The UK, 70m. The enough-English-to-get-by speaking 'West' / Europe is about 350m (of 700m) people. So, 700m Western English speakers in 'first world' economies. |
