This is a somewhat standard requirement for “special treatment” in that industry; the deliverability requirements are establishing trust, which is currency in email markets. You could roll out the anonymity/compliance feature after a month of using their service for delivering email to those customers, for other features that don’t require the compliance. And if you end up having a >5% bounce rate, you may have other problems. |
