At least the legislators are elected and answer directly to voters. You can dither about who donates but voters truly decide the outcome. Bureaucrats are multiple layers removed, often serve for entire careers, and truly don’t give a shit because the only way they will get fired is if they assault someone. Nothing will happen to them so “keeping busy” is making ever more rules, whether they are needed or helpful (or not). |
