There is something odd going on with the default map.

If I search for my name, it shows the map with a pin at my location, near Columbus, OH, USA. If I just start from the home page, no matter how much I zoom in, I don't show up.

So whether or not the site users are a good representation of the interest in the world, the default map seems a poor representation of their users.
