Are we? Just look at climate change.

We are also fighting fighting climate change with pseudo science and industry money.

We aren't good at fixing things, we are good at surviving even if we don't fix things. Maybe lots of people die, maybe we repeat the same mistakes over and over again but at least some will survive to start all over again. Every high culture went down the hill and a new emerged from the rubbles of the previous one. But that's not fixing, that surviving.
