Life is the gamble. Insurance is a hedge. That’s not complicated.
Mandating that people purchase health insurance is a complication in the sense that a person is forced to use their resources to hedge or pay penalties, instead of going all in on life.
In the US it’s mostly a low-middle class problem because the cost of health insurance affects their financial flexibility.
It’s not a great expense to the middle-upper class and the poor usually qualify for government healthcare. |
