The EU does not have a great track record with regard to privacy. "Connected cars" can easily be sold to regulators as necessary for safety. When a choice has to be made between privacy and safety (or "safety") the EU chooses safety every time. Cars will monitor driver attention, reckless driving, speeding and tattle to the manufacturer and insurance company. I expect these changes to be gradual and people will grouch about it before ultimately relenting. |
