Exactly, this comparison seems like an insult to tmux. I tried i3 because of all the hype (and lack of sensible arguments to use it), and in an hour realized that it forces me to manage things I did not need to even think about on a normal system. Also, it did not improve my productivity, it slowed me down trying to figure out how to manage my windows. Tmux is great because its features work out of the box without a need to customize anything, this is a common trait of a useful and popular software (bash, ssh, coreutils, curl). i3 is not even close to this. |
