I was looking for a SolidWorks alternative and I found OnShape (onshape.com), works pretty well but is quite expensive (but it has a free plan where all projects are public) If someone knows of a valid open source, I'm glad to hear it!

I recently switched from Fusion 360 to Onshape and it is so much better. Fewer crashes, better performance, and clearer errors when an operation can't be computed. Just wish it was less expensive for personal use.

Anything runs on a browser as a solution is a major no for stable production environments.

Why? Anything can go through a browser if you have good internet. I play the latest Xbox releases in my browser (gamepass). I spent 20 years working in Windows CAD programs. Solidworks crashing and losing my work or fiddling with file versioning with coworkers is super annoying. Not to mention needing beefy hardware. Now I can fire up any browser to onshape.com and there's my work just as I left it, cloud infrastructure does all the heavy lifting so I can just plug a spacemouse into my macbook air, no having to save anything, a git-like commit and branch system to make collaboration a breeze. Onshape is the future imo.

I'm sorry, but have you used Solidworks on a daily basis? The word "stable" doesn't apply.
