You'd need a lot of land, and also need to put aside a proportion of your production (or profits) to cover those panels as they age.

When Europeans can buy 500W+ Trina panels for $150 shipped, something tells me this one-time investment isn't going to be too insurmountable.

A proportion of revenue will going on acquiring power regardless of the source.
