Emacs with its shortcuts is actually a major wrist-killer - just see what happened to RMS...

(disclaimer: I absolutely love emacs, but had to switch to vim just because of strain it puts on my wrists)

I've only been using Emacs as my exclusive editor for about 3 years, but with my Caps Lock key set as my primary Ctrl key I've never noticed any stress or pain.
