What about the public? I feel talking about the layperson has been absent in many AI safety conversations - i.e., the general public that maybe has heard of "chat-jippity" but doesn't know much else. There's a twitter account documenting all the crazy AI generated images that go viral on facebook - https://x.com/FacebookAIslop (warning the pinned tweet is nsfw)
It's unclear to me how much of that is botted activities, but there are clearly at least some amount of older, less tech savvy people that are believing these are real. We need to focus on the present too, not just hypothetical futures. |
