I think these sentences sum up most of the article: > The [...] blackout [the day before the bridge collision] was caused by the mechanical blocking of the online generator’s exhaust gas stack. The second blackout in port [the day before the collision] was related to insufficient fuel pressure for the online generator. So it sounds like there was an inexperienced crew and some mechanical issues. I heard that there was some speculation around poor fuel quality, but this paragraph seems to argue against that: > Fuel-sample analysis results indicated that the [...] fuel [...] complied with international standards and regulations. The test results did not identify any concerns related to the quality of the fuel. |
