No totally related, but I noticed that a lot of people using VIM or keyboard only tool are oblivious to the cognitive load it takes on them.

You can see them struggling when doing simple things because they have to stop and remember what context they are in, what dynamic value they need to attach to their keyboard shortcuts (turns out muscle memory can help with fixed values, but not with buffer names and task numbers) and so on.

They will tell you it's vastly superior.

But the colleague that I see actually managing to pull it off are rare. Most are just slower for the same given micro-tasks.

Add on top to that they may rock a dvorak layout and an exotic distro, and they burn out quickly. And then wonder why.
