I am the founder of an app called Barrier - Social Lock (shameless plug: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/barrier-social-lock/id6448244443), designed to help manage and reduce screen time on social media and other addictive apps. Initially created as a personal solution to combat my own social media addiction, the app uses Apple's Screen Time API to regulate usage effectively. Despite having a small user base that finds it beneficial, I've encountered a growth plateau, suggesting a potential challenge in reaching a broader audience in a competitive landscape.

Given this context, I'm reaching out to the Hacker News community for advice and insights: How have you successfully marketed your apps, especially in environments saturated with options? Additionally, does anyone have experience with getting press releases written about their apps or gaining media attention? Any guidance on navigating these aspects would be greatly appreciated.
