Ask HN: Startup full time or part time?

I am trying to figure out how often do people go into their startup full time before raising any funding. YC asks "how long have you been working full time"; so I am guessing there is a bias towards working full time for a bit before going and raising money. What was your journey like?

Going full time shows dedication. Since most startups kill themselves, often by giving up, dedication is a big signal.

We are applying right now. We have been full time for about a quarter.
