Direct quote from Xitter:

> don’t depend on corporations to grant you rights. defend them yourself using freedom technology.

> (you’re on one)

Which is strange since I don't think X actually federates, and its "free speech" seems a mix of pay-to-play and "don't speak ill of the king".

Perhaps Dorsey was cross posting from BlueSky? Or he made nice with Musk and is trying to throw him a bone?

I'm not from the US so I could be misunderstanding the situation but I think free speech in this context means the ability to say anything (good or bad) against groups of people without moderation. Twitter is more lenient towards specific rhetoric same with all the social sites and their affiliations

Under Musk, Twitter is lenient towards specific sorts of rhetoric that align with, or at least don't conflict with, his own leanings, and very harsh on certain other types of rhetoric, perhaps most notably criticism of Musk.

Given Google and Apple controlling the biggest app stores, X is forced to have moderation of some form if they want their app to remain listed.
No he doesn't even have a Bluesky account. This is an absolutely wild quote, imagine if someone made him explain what magical technology Twitter has that grants you rights without having to depend on the Twitter Corporation. He's even pinned this, he really thinks people will believe it.

Edit: He did post this on Nostr as well, which makes a little more sense: https://primal.net/e/note1awa6kyufetxrvsl5j0s583hzxrcuah9dem.... I still don't understand why he pinned it on Twitter unless he's intentionally being ironic.

Dorsey maintained his ownership of 2.4% of Twitter through the sale, no?
Yeah, especially because on Twitter you’re at the whim of effectively a single individual who has repeatedly proven to not be congruent.

I read elsewhere that he moved to Nostr which is what he might have cross posted from. Nostr would meet his criteria.
