This is almost a special case of the very similar (and common) argument that ‘AI-generated misinformation isn’t bad; we’ve always had misinformation’. The answer is also the same. Volume. AI makes it trivially easy to generate vast amounts of it that don’t betray their lack of coherence easily. As with much AI content, it creates arbitrary amounts of work for humans to have to sift through in order to know it’s right. And it gives confidence to those who don’t know very much to then start polluting the informationsphere with endless amounts of codswallop. |
