> Which quickly collapsed into If I can’t work hard, where do I derive my value from? This really jumped out at me. As a society we have really screwed up royally when so many people derive their value, or own self worth, almost exclusively from work. People should enjoy their work obvious, that's better than hating it. But especially when you work for someone else, work should ultimately be the "how" behind the rest of your life. Humans were built to derive value from community and relationships, both with your loved ones and with nature. The fact that we have effectively imprisoned the entire society into working 8-12 hour days 5 days a week just so they can rush to get chores done and do it all over is absolutely horrible. If you're reading this and this sounds familiar, go for a walk or plant some flowers in fresh soil. Call an old friend or go have dinner with some family and leave your phones at home. Don't let work consume your life, it will never fill the void. |
