'Cat out of the bag' would be 'we have specific evidence that allows us to prosecute a specific executive for criminal negligence or manslaughter'. That would be why you might kill someone, to save your own skin. Is there any reason to believe that either one of these men had any such evidence and had thus far not shared it? |
