It would be interesting to see if timing for the decline of decoration is associated with the increase in the number of objects people possess and also the rise of alternative visual stimulation in the form of tv and then internet.

For me, anything in my vision that isn’t nice, clean nature is just urban hellscape. With some exceptions for aesthetic architecture.

All I see in life is drywall and clutter. Most of the things in my home aren’t things I want to actually constantly see or frankly even own. I just own them because I need a laundry machine because I don’t have servants to do my laundry for me, and I have to look at it because I don’t live in a 8000 square foot mansion where I can tuck it away
