I found some 3D model files that came with the board and pieces in one gltf file, which threlte makes easy to extract out the nodes. Svelte reactivity also makes it super easy to move/position/scale/animate things, its just plain JS!
I was going to make a "Chess lounge" in the next iteration where you could walk around and watch other people playing in a cafe, but my interests moved on.
