Pixel phones are great too, but Google would be a radically different company if they tried to saturate the demand for Android hardware on their own. Making flagship/reference hardware on the Oculus legacy is a much better strategy for Meta and lets them focus on platform vision and data collection, which is exactly the company they spent the last 15+ years building. |
