The german signboard was a good real-world example that I happened to see for myself, that’s why I included it. It is a perfectly fine example of the sort of phenomenon I was talking about. The fact that this particular example was a signboard doesn’t alter the fact, that the same applies for buttons on user interfaces for example. On the Macintosh Prototype, there was apparently a “Do It” button that some test users read as “Dolt” (idiot), so it was changed to “OK”.
