Important to remember just how close we really are to slavery. It's not ancient history by any means. Absolutely. My grandmother's grandmother was a slave. It's still hard for me to wrap my hand around the fact that I knew and talked to someone that new a slave. (yes, I know modern-day slavery exists, I'm speaking in context of US chattel slavery) |
