I don’t know which HNers you’re thinking about. But the only supposed mechanism I’ve heard of why sugar makes you fat is that it affects insulin, and insulin is the mechanism that signals fat cells to store fat. I haven’t heard/read anything from the keto community that argues that sugar being converted to fat is the primary mechanism of weight gain. I may have read theories that it contributes more to visceral fat, which is really bad for your health? But that won’t be the majority of weight gained I think. Feels to me like you’re arguing against a pretty big straw man. |
