I disagree, it is far from inevitable. I think this is a huge mirage. People believe others fall for propaganda en masse and fail to account for their own lack of critical thinking. This is a typical fear reaction. "Disinformation" threatens our democracies, so we need to give up X and Y and allow government access to our most private devices and information. It is wrong of course. And if we would ask for an example of a case of disinformation that did threaten democracy, we can wait a long, long time. |
