It's all coming back to me now. 1993 was also when Word 6 was released for Windows; moving from a DOS editor to the Windows editor brought a revolution in fonts. Just have a look at the difference in experience and it's obvious why offices and such adopted windows so quickly: https://winworldpc.com/product/microsoft-word/6x Works 2 was released for Windows a year earlier, but I think the 3 release was what really shone.
